Where am I this time?

Well, today I’m over at Magical Words, talking about literary cheerleaders and what they mean to me.

Come Friday I’ll be off to the DFW Writers Conference.  I look forward to seeing some of you there.  Hope you’ll give me a shout out!

  1. I tried to leave a comment over at Magical Words, but I don’t have a WordPress account. I have to say that being a cheerleader, a good one, requires a pseudo bi-polar mentaility. You’re not doing any good unless your being painfully honest, but in such a way to not smother the persons creative momentum. Then in the next moment you turn right around and praise what you feel works, being careful not to exaggerate. And whichever way the feedback leads you, being positive is a constant requirement. But unlike a real cheerleader, you can have a direct impact on the outcome of the game, which is both gratifying…and scary.

    Wonderful topic! 🙂
