When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace.

Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy—one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

Praise for the Jane Yellowrock Novels

“Jane’s world is a fully realized one, full of shapeshifters, Native American magic and folklore, baddies that will make your hair stand on end, and a heroine, that, despite her considerable skills, harbors plenty of vulnerability and self-doubt. If you love urban fantasy or just plain wonderful writing and world building, this is the series for you.” —My Bookish Ways

“Seriously. Best urban fantasy I’ve read in years, possibly ever.”—C. E. Murphy, author of Truthseeker

gryphonprecinct GRYPHON PRECINCT by Keith R.A. DeCandido

Humans and elves, dwarves and gnomes, wizards and warriors all live and do business in the thriving, overcrowded port city of Cliff’s End, to say nothing of the tourists and travelers who arrive by land and sea, passing through the metropolis on matters of business or pleasure-or on quests. The hard-working, under-appreciated officers of the Cliff’s End Castle Guard work day and night to maintain law and order as best they can.

Cliff’s End is rocked by the death of Lord Albin. As soon as the funeral ends, Albin’s son Blayk takes over and starts instituting wholesale changes in how the Cliff’s End Castle Guard is run: enforced retirements of older guards (including Captain Osric), surprise promotions (including Grovis to replace Osric as Captain of the Guard), sword requalifications for all guards, and much more. Worse, Blayk has split up Lieutenants Torin ban Wyvald and Danthres Tresyllione and given them new partners. Lieutenant Dru, still devastated by the loss of Lieutenant Hawk, also has a new partner.

All three detectives catch separate cases, but the more they investigate, the more they realize that all three are related – and connected to a conspiracy that targets the King and Queen themselves!

Praise for the Precinct novels:

“All in all, this is a fascinating excursion in genre-bending; it’s worth a try even for readers who usually take either their procedurals or their fantasies unadulterated.” -Booklist

“Beneath the swords and sorcery is a well-constructed set of hardboiled mysteries; Dragnet in a Dungeons and Dragons setting. Keith DeCandido’s first original novel (he has written several tie-ins) is a well-paced, entertaining read.” – Reviewing the Evidence

Also, Amy Christine Parker (author of the acclaimed YA thriller GATED) and I got together over the weekend and had some fun with our YA Rebels video on The Top Ten Things Never to Say to a Writer.  We hope you enjoy!

But college student Claire Danvers isn’t about to take sides, considering she has ties to both the humans and the vampires.

prophecy girl PROPHECY GIRL by Cecily White (Angel Academy, Book 1)

Amelie Bennett. . . . Ending the world, one prophecy at a time.

I was born to slay Crossworld demons.

Big black flappy ones, little green squirmy ones. Unfortunately, the only thing getting slain these days is my social life. With my high school under attack, combat classes intensifying, and Academy instructors dropping right and left, I can barely get my homework done, let alone score a bondmate before prom.

Then he shows up.

Jackson Smith-Hailey. Unspeakably hot, hopelessly unattainable, and dangerous in all the right ways. Sure, he’s my trainer. And okay, maybe he hates me. Doesn’t mean I’ll ignore the wicked Guardian chemistry between us. It’s crazy! Every time I’m with him, my powers explode. Awesome, right?

Wrong.

Now my teachers think I’m the murderous Graymason destined to bring down our whole race of angelbloods. Everyone in New Orleans is hunting me. The people I trusted want me dead. Jack and I have five days to solve the murders, prevent a vampire uprising, and thwart the pesky prophecy foretelling his death by my hand.  Shouldn’t be too difficult.

Getting it done without falling in love. . . that might take a miracle.

I’ve been shamefully neglecting my blog lately because of extreme busyness, which is a good thing, but also insanity-inducing.  But I had to carve out a few minutes today to say a HUGE congratulations to Faith Hunter, whose latest Jane Yellowrock book, DEATH’S RIVAL is on the New York Times list for the second week in a row.  Awesome news for an equally awesome author!

Other series titles: SKINWALKER (July 2009), BLOOD CROSS (Jan 2010), MERCY BLADE (Jan 2011), RAVEN CURSED (Jan 2012)

“Jane Yellowrock is one of the most intriguing heroines in urban fantasy, and Hunter skillfully doles out tiny pieces of Jane’s backstory to keep readers coming back for more. Mystery and action are at the forefront here, but the romance from the first book continues to build slowly. Readers eager for the next book in Patricia Briggs’s Mercy Thompson series may want to give Faith Hunter a try.”    —Library Journal, Starred Review

Jane Yellowrock is a shapeshifting skinwalker you don’t want to cross—especially if you’re one of the undead…

But now, someone is out to take his place as Master Vampire of the city of New Orleans, and is not afraid to go through Jane to do it. After an attack that’s tantamount to a war declaration, Leo knows his rival is both powerful and vicious, but Leo’s not about to run scared. After all, he has Jane. But then, a plague strikes, one that takes down vampires and makes their masters easy prey.

Now, to uncover the identity of the vamp who wants Leo’s territory, and to find the cause of the vamp-plague, Jane will have to go to extremes…and maybe even to war.
