February Book Birthdays!

This year started out with such a bang (in all the best ways except my back going out) that I wasn’t sure I was going to find time to blog in 2016.  I was literally dancing as fast as I could to keep on top of things (a la Buffy in Once More With Feeling).  However, I’ve emerged from my mad dance inspired and only slightly singed. For some of what I’ve been working on, you can check out Tor UK’s announcement of the acquisition of two new books in Genevieve Cogman’s Invisible Library series. More announcements to come!

On February 18th I did my first new post on How Books Saved my Life.  It really is a dream come true to be part of the publishing process, and I’ve discovered that no matter how busy I become, I’m unable to resist bubbling over when my authors’ new releases hit the shelves.  And so, today I’m very excited to celebrate the following February book birthdays!

grave visions GRAVE VISIONS by Kalayna Price

The USA Today bestselling author of Grave Memory and Grave Dance returns with her bewitching heroine Alex Craft in a new novel of twisting urban fantasy where the secrets of the dead can wreak havoc on the living.

If you want to hear voices from the dead in Nekros City, you call Alex Craft. She’s a grave witch with reasonable rates and extraordinary powers who specializes in revealing the secrets of the dead. But she has her own secrets. She’s not human—and her newly discovered heritage is causing havoc for her both in the human realm and in Faerie.

Fae can’t survive without a tie to Faerie, and now that Alex’s true nature has awoken, she’s no exception. She must align herself to a court and soon. To retain as much freedom as possible, she makes a deal to track the source of a new glamour-infused street drug which causes hallucinations that kill—and not just the user. Her investigation entangles Alex in a conflict brewing in Faerie, and she must find answers before she’s dragged so deep that she loses not only her freedom, but her life.
rock-a-bye rescue  ROCK-A-BYE RESCUE: Guarding Eve\Claiming Caleb by Beth Cornelison and Karen Whiddon

Two babies in jeopardy…two powerful stories in one!

When an unhinged cult leader escapes custody, he’ll stop at nothing to get to two innocent babies…and the foster mothers who stand in his way.

GUARDING EVE by Beth Cornelison

Lila Green goes from foster mom to bodyguard when a storm traps her and six-month-old Eve in a remote mountain cabin with a killer on their heels. Can her neighbor, wounded veteran Dean Hamilton, help them survive?

CLAIMING CALEB by Karen Whiddon

Michelle Morgan must protect her newborn nephew, Caleb—and even work with her ex-fiancé. FBI agent Garrett Ware never wanted children, but now he’ll sacrifice everything for this baby…and this woman.

a deadly tail A DEADLY TAIL by Dixie Lyle

“A clever new series that deftly blends cozy mystery with the paranormal…original and witty.”-Ali Brandon, author of the Black Cat Bookshop mysteries

Deirdre “Foxtrot” Lancaster returns-with her otherworldly animal companions Whiskey and Tango-to shine a light on the dark side of fame…

Foxtrot has seen a lot of strange things as assistant to billionaire Zelda Zoransky at her wacky mansion. And that includes her telepathic cat Tango and ectoplasmic pooch Whiskey. So it’s no surprise to find a horde of zombies lurching across the lawn-even if they are just actors in a horror movie that’s filming on the mansion grounds. The special effects look pretty convincing. But all that fake blood doesn’t fool Whiskey, who quickly sniffs out the truth: one of those corpses is real…

Before you can say, “Lights, camera, murder,” Foxtrot and her furry partners-in-crime-solving are caught up in the drama of who-killed-who…and why. With a crazy cast of characters including a neurotic director, a star-hungry diva-even with an appearance by Lassie’s ghost-it’s bound to have one hell of a twist ending. But first, Foxtrot and her supernatural sidekicks have to find a killer amongst them-before the whole case is a wrap…in the next Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot novel from Dixie Lyle.

dreaming death DREAMING DEATH  by J. Kathleen Cheney

In the Novels of the Golden City, J. Kathleen Cheney created a “mesmerizing” (Publishers Weekly) realm where magic, history, and intrigue combine. Now, she presents a new world ruled by psychic talents and fatal magic…

Shironne Anjir’s status as a sensitive is both a gift and a curse. Her augmented senses allow her to discover and feel things others can’t, but her talents come with a price: a constant assault of emotions and sensations has left her blind. Determined to use her abilities as best she can, Shironne works tirelessly as an investigator for the Larossan army.

A member of the royal family’s guard, Mikael Lee also possesses an overwhelming power—he dreams of the deaths of others, sometimes in vivid, shocking detail, and sometimes in cryptic fragments and half-remembered images.

But then a killer brings a reign of terror to the city, snuffing out his victims with an arcane and deadly blood magic. Only Shironne can sense and interpret Mikael’s dim, dark dreams of the murders. And what they find together will lead them into a nightmare…

My good friend (and Knight Agency client) Deborah Blake also has an awesome new release out in February:

wickedly powerful WICKEDLY POWERFUL by Deborah Blake

The author of Wickedly Wonderful returns to her “addicting”* world of Russian witches in the latest Baba Yaga novel.

Known as the wicked witch of Russian fairy tales, Baba Yaga is not one woman, but rather a title carried by a chosen few. They keep the balance of nature and guard the borders of our world, but don’t make the mistake of crossing one of them…

The only thing more fiery than Bella Young’s red hair is her temper. She knows that a Baba Yaga’s power without strict control can leave the people she cares about burned, so to protect her heart—and everyone around her—the only company she keeps is her dragon-turned-Norwegian-Forest-cat, Koshka.

But when Bella is tasked with discovering who’s setting magical fires throughout Wyoming’s Black Hills, she finds herself working closely with former hotshots firefighter Sam Corbett—and falling hard for his quiet strength and charm.

Sam may bear the scars of his past, but Bella can see beyond them and would do anything to help him heal. Only before she can rescue her Prince Charming, she’ll have to overcome the mysterious foe setting the forest fires—a truly wicked witch who wields as much power and even more anger than Bella…
