I have so much good news to share! In no particular order:

cold reign A  huge congratulations to Faith Hunter for hitting #29 on the USA Today bestseller list with her latest Jane Yellowrock novel, COLD REIGN. So thrilled!

assassins-creed-novelization assassin's creed heresy More huge congratulations to Christie Golden not only for her two Scribe Award nominations for Best Adapted – General and Speculative (ASSASSIN’S CREED) and Best Speculative Original (ASSASSIN’S CREED: HERESY), but for being honored by the IAMTW with the 2017 Faust Award and adding her to their prestigious list of media tie-in Grandmasters. So proud!

paper and fire HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY this week to Rachel Caine for the mass market reissue of PAPER AND FIRE, the second novel in her amazing Great Library series comprised thus far of INK AND BONE, PAPER AND FIRE and ASH AND QUILL (coming July 11th!) (For UK links, see INK AND BONE, PAPER AND FIRE and ASH AND QUILL.)

VAMPED - hires REVAMPED new cover All new editions of the first two novels in my Vamped series, VAMPED and REVAMPED, have been released by Lore Seekers Press, both only $2.99 in digital. The next two and a brand new fifth novel will be coming soon!

So much to celebrate this week in addition to the latest book birthdays.

First, if you haven’t already heard me trumpet this (because I’m known for my subtlety), I have a bunch of my own new releases coming out this year, particularly in the Latter-Day Olympians series. The first book, BAD BLOOD, is already out from Samhain in all formats. The second, CRAZY IN THE BLOOD, is out in digital and will be released in trade paperback on July 2nd. That’s right, you could have it in time for reading over the July 4th long weekend! (No pressure, of course.) And if all that isn’t exciting enough, I recently received the final cover for book 3, RISE OF THE BLOOD, that I can share with you all. This one’s out in digital in September and print next year.

Now, I’d like to say that I look just this badass in a negotiation, but in all likelihood, I’m holding a cup of coffee and a telephone rather than purched upon a pedastal, but I do have the boots.  No, sadly, this isn’t me, but my heroine Tori Karacis, who has just enough gorgon blood to stop men in their tracks.  I love this pic because the model truly looks like she has the gorgon glare.  Talk about something that would come in handy in a negotiation!

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of boots (back a few sentences…there it is), I have a Latter-Day Olympians story coming out in the awesome KICKING IT anthology releasing from Roc Books in December of this year.  So, boots seem to be a bit of a theme (just check this cover):

Some extra loud shout outs to the following authors for their HUGE recent achievements:

Rachel Caine for how amazingly the new Morganville Vampires novel FALL OF NIGHT is doing right out of the gate, ranking #4 in both the UK Children’s and UK Children’s Fiction lists and topping the Small Publishers’ Children’s chart.  It just came out on Tuesday here in the US, but I expect that we’ll have similar wonderful news here shortly.

N.K. Jemisin for the Locus Award nomination for Best Fantasy for THE KILLING MOON!

Jasmine Haynes for finaling in the Erotic category of the National Readers’ Choice Awards (winner to be announced at RWA National) with THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE!

Janet Mullany for finaling in the Golden Quill with her erotic novel HIDDEN PARADISE!

I’m so excited for you all.  You have no idea how difficult it is to type with fingers and toes crossed.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Things have been crazy-good-busy with work these past couple of weeks and something’s had to give.  Unfortunately, it was the blog.  So, herewith, a quick catch up on some new and exciting goings-on, some pics from Dragon*Con and a few links.  Universe willing, I’ll finish posting the glorious Hawaii pics very soon and get back to blogging as usual.

So, Vamped, the first book in the series of the same name, is currently specially priced at $1.99 for Kindle.  That’s right, all that snark for half of what a fancy coffee will cost you, and it’ll last a lot longer!  If you’ve liked Clueless or Legally Blonde, if you’ve liked Buffy (and who hasn’t?), this might be for you.  At best, you love it.  At worst, you get to feel all superior to me because you can write circles around me.  Isn’t the not-knowing killing you?

Also specially priced are new digital releases from Faith Hunter and Vicky Dreiling!  Have Stakes Will Travel, Faith Hunter’s new set of stories from the Jane Yellowrock world, includes an exclusive preview of the first few chapters of DEATH’S RIVAL, coming October 2nd!  Vicky Dreiling has a new e-novella A Season for Sin out from Forever Romance, introducing the sinful scoundrels that will be featured in her upcoming series.  I love a good rake, as long as I’m not expected to use it on the fall foliage!  As if that isn’t enough, Forever has specially priced Vicky’s RITA Award nominated Regency romance, HOW TO MARRY A DUKE at $2.99.  If you haven’t read it already, now’s your chance!  Heck, even if you have…books make great gifts!

Huge congrats are in order for Karen Whiddon’s romantic suspense THE COP’S MISSING CHILD debuting at #94 on Bookscan’s Romance bestseller list and for Christie Golden’s new World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmore: TIDES OF WAR hitting the New York Times bestseller list at #13 and a USA Today at #119!  You go, gals!

I wish I had time to post an entire wrap up of the enormity and crazy wonderfulness that is Dragon*Con, but suffice it to say that I got to put an arm around James Callis and Jamie Bamber (and see them drinking at the bar the following day), snap a picture with a zombie-hunter Beaker, sell out of my urban fantasy BAD BLOOD (murder, myth and mayhem, oh my!) and spend a wonderful few days with incredibly talented writers David B. Coe/D.B. Jackson, Faith Hunter, Kalayna Price, Keith R.A. DeCandido, Michelle Belanger, Diana Peterfreund, C.L. Wilson, Jennifer St. Giles, Deidre Knight, John Hartness, James Tuck, Elaine Isaak, and Tracy Akers.  I also wrote a post over at Magical Words on Con-etiquette, partially inspired by the con.  Here are some snapshots for your viewing pleasure.

Things are a bit crazy this week, since I’m only in the office for two days before running off to chaperone my son’s class trip to St. Augustine.  Many sixth graders, one bus.  Wish me luck!  Before I run off, some congratulations are in order:

To Rob Thurman for hitting #21 on the New York Times paperback list last week with her latest hard-hitting Cal Leandros novel, DOUBLETAKE. (See excerpt and video.)

To Amy Christine Parker, whose debut novel and subsequent book, we’ve sold to Random House Children’s at auction (see Publishers Weekly report).  THE SILO is tentatively set for release in Fall 2012.  It’s truly not to be missed!

To Kira Sinclair for the release of her latest Island Nights novel, RUB IT IN, just out today!

To Faith Hunter, whose Jane Yellowrock novel RAVEN CURSED is an Audible All-Star, Top 20 Book for the season.

Whoo hoo!  Awesome when good things happen to great people (and such talented writers)!

Today, I have to give some major shout outs! First, two incredible authors Rachel Caine and Chloe Neill (alphabetically, not playing favorites!) for hitting the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists this week!  That’s right, Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampires are on top once again at #10 on the NYT Children’s series bestseller list with the most recent entry, LAST BREATH, debuting at #64 on the USA Today list.  Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires are burning up the bestseller lists with DRINK DEEP at #15 for Print Paperbacks, #19 for e-Books and #28 the combined list and debuting at #56 for USA Today!  You go, gals!  You can see both authors together here on Omaha’s The Morning Blend.

I also want to give a huge shout out to Bryan Anderson, whose inspiring memoir, NO TURNING BACK, written with David Mack, hit shelves this month.  Here he is, interviewed by Morgan Doremus of Romantic Times On-Line.
